In
his insightful, autobiographical Cottonwood CD, Brad Colerick
has taken a
musical journey through his life from his roots on the flatlands
of Nebraska
to Hollywood and his "other life" as a successful
producer of music for
commercials and film. The 11 magnificently understated, rootsy
tracks
feature the likes of Herb Pedersen, ex-Byrd Chris Hillman, Dan
Navarro
(Lowen & Navarro), Rob Laufer and bandmate Steve Hanson
as well as producer
and multi-instrumentalist Ed Tree.
Influenced by the West coast
country rockers of the early 70's, Colerick's
vocals sail above the marvelous arrangements that harken back
to Buffalo
Springfield and its numerous offshoots. What Colerick has put
together here
is a wonderful, stripped-down glimpse of his life and of his
deep connection
to the prairie he left behind.
